The Truth In The Spirit
Assistant Director ~ Stella L. Boney
Stella Boney was raised in Norfolk and currently lives
in Newport News, VA. She is the mother of Markita
Smith. Ms. Boney's experience includes being the
Executive Director at Ghent Arms Assisted Living
Community w/ Special Care Unit, Assisted Living
Coordinator at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living
Community, and Assistant Administrator at Salem
Acres, an elderly adult care facility. She was also the
Program Director of Friends of the Elderly,
Transitional Housing Program, which assists
homeless individuals including the elderly and
families. Additionally, she was Case Manager for
Saint Columba Next Step Program, a transitional
housing program. Before working at Friends of the
Elderly, she was self-employed at her own elderly
care facility titled Stella’s Helping Hand. Additionally,
she has worked as the Program Director for a tutorial
incentive program for at-risk youth ages seven to
twelve, many of whom suffered from behavior and

The Truth In The Spirit, overseeing all direct service programs. Ms. Boney feels
very strongly about the community having a responsibility to care for those in need.
Working with people has always been a joy; it is more of a passion than work for her.
In her family, she is in the fourth generation of care providers, including her father.
