ON THE WALL - Bible Reading Calendar

Introduction

Standing for Yeshua (Jesus) together with other believers is challenging in our personal lives.  Yet, it can be even more challenging while serving in our businesses and civic/community organizations, in which we are called to be in the world but not of the world.  Professional relationships and advancing the goals of any business or organization can tempt us to subvert God’s ways and try to do things our own way, or worse, the world’s way.  However, in these trying times, it is important now more than ever that we are led by the Holy Spirit, stand for the truth of the Word of God, and demonstrate the character of the Messiah in every way we can.

Nehemiah is an excellent example for us of doing just that.  Though he was not a minister, he served God faithfully by leading the people in rebuilding the city of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile.  He served in partnership with Ezra the priest to help the people rebuild their lives and reconnect with God.  The community, physically and spiritually, had to be rebuilt and Nehemiah rose to the task.  He was led by the Spirit of God in all of his actions because he preceded them with prayer.  He stood for the truth of the Word of God against enemies and his own countrymen when they were going astray.  He also demonstrated the character of the Messiah (though he had not yet come in human form) by sacrificing his rights to advance the community and protecting them at all costs as they continued in God’s work.

As Nehemiah was called to rebuild his community, so we are called to reclaim our cities in the Name of Yeshua (Jesus) and support God’s people Israel as they face enemies on all sides.  As business and community leaders, we must stand together with ministers in God’s house to be used in the deliverance of the citizens of Hampton Roads and then to help rebuild their lives upon the Rock, who is Yeshua (Jesus).  Additionally, we must stand together with God’s people Israel as commanded in the Word of God.  This monthly Bible reading calendar has been designed with you in mind:  the courageous Nehemiahs who will stand together with all of God’s people to lead this community to revival and support of Israel.  Each month (or, rather 28-day period), a new theme will be introduced with its corresponding reflections.  Each theme is broken down into four weekly units to study the theme more closely as it relates to our personal and professional lives, which we know are intertwined.  Because the days are numbered rather than assigned a date, you may read through the readings at your convenience.  Yet, once you start feeding your spirit with the Word regularly, you will realize that you want and need the Word of God everyday.

My prayer is that this Bible reading calendar will help you develop a more intimate relationship with God.  If you follow along with the readings each day, you will read through the Bible in approximately one year, making connections between the Old and New Testaments and receiving more complete revelation of that which Yeshua (Jesus) came to earth to fulfill and that which He is returning to fulfill.  I also pray that this Bible reading calendar will nourish and support you as you stand for the Word of God in your business or community organization.  Please know that The Ecclesia Network of Ministries stands with you, The Truth In The Spirit is here for you, and the Messiah will be with you even until the ends of the earth.
